Flag out-of-range readings in a vaccine fridge log
Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're the clinic's vaccine coordinator reviewing last week's fridge log. The safe range is 36-46°F, and when a reading has a recheck, the recheck counts. Write exactly 5 numbered lines, one per day, each listing the readings that count and OK or OUT, then one unnumbered last line: Report: [days that were OUT]. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not giving the safe range. The AI guesses a range or skips the 35 that's just under. Try: Add: "Safe range is 36-46°F."
- Not explaining rechecks. The AI flags Thursday from the door-open reading. Try: Add: "When there's a recheck, use the recheck."
- Leaving the shape open. The AI writes paragraphs about the unplugged fridge. Try: Show it: "1. Mon: 38, 40 OK"
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 10 words."
- Forgetting where it goes. AI loves markdown tables and bold, which show up as clutter in a clinic log form. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, headings or tables."
What a strong prompt includes
