Compare two part-time jobs on real weekly take-home
Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're choosing between two part-time jobs. You already have a monthly bus pass, so getting to Job A costs you nothing extra, and you only count guaranteed pay, not tips. Write exactly 2 numbered lines, each showing rate x hours − commute cost = weekly amount, then one unnumbered last line: Pick: Job A or Job B. Plain text, under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not mentioning the bus pass. The AI charges $30 a week in bus fare to Job A, and Job B wins. Try: Add: "I have a bus pass, so Job A's commute costs $0."
- Counting tips. The AI adds the $30 tip guess to Job B. Try: Add: "Count only guaranteed pay, no tips."
- Not asking to see the work. Without the math, you can't check the parking days. Try: Add a line to copy: "1. Job A: $17 x 20 = $340 − $0 = $340"
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 16 words."
- Forgetting where it goes. AI loves markdown tables and bold, which show up as clutter in your notes app. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, headings or tables."
