Compare win rates by lead source using closed deals only
Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your VP wants win rate by lead source. Your team's win rate counts only closed deals: won ÷ (won + lost), with open deals left out. Write exactly 3 numbered lines, one per source, each showing that math as a whole percent, then one unnumbered last line: Best: [source]. Plain text, under 60 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not defining win rate. The AI divides by all deals, like the CRM, and Partner comes out on top. Try: Add: "Win rate = won ÷ (won + lost). Leave out open deals."
- Not asking to see the work. Your VP will compare it to the CRM's number. Try: Add a line to copy: "1. Inbound: 18 ÷ (18 + 12) = 60%"
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 10 words."
- Forgetting where it goes. AI loves markdown tables and bold, which show up as clutter in a VP email. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, headings or tables."
What a strong prompt includes
