Fill a decisions-needed template for the leadership offsite
- For Executives
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write the pre-read for the leadership offsite. Include only items that need a decision. Use exactly three blocks, each with four lines labeled Decision:, Owner:, Needed by:, Default if no decision:, and a blank line between blocks. Plain text, under 130 words. Use the latest dates from the notes. Leave out items that are for information only.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including info items. The AI lists all six topics. Try: Say: "Only items that need a decision."
- Old date. The AI uses Nov 25 for pricing. Try: Say: "Use the latest dates."
- Changing the template. The AI adds a rationale line. Try: Say: "Exactly four labeled lines per block."
- Missing defaults. The AI leaves out what happens if no decision. Try: Say: "Fill the Default line for every block."
- Markdown. The AI numbers or bolds. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
