Write a 60-second all-hands talk track about a team change
- For Executives
- You practice Getting the tone right
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Your CEO, Aaron, has 60 seconds at Friday's all-hands to announce that the Support and Success teams are merging under Nadia Brooks. Write the spoken talk track in under 150 words: start with the change itself in the very first sentence, with no greeting, explain why in one sentence, make no promises about jobs or roles that HR hasn't approved, and end with exactly "Questions go to #ask-leadership." Plain text, short sentences that sound natural out loud. HR reviews it before Friday.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Warming up first. The AI opens with thanks and Q3 results before the news. Try: Say: "Open with the change in the first sentence."
- Promising what HR hasn't approved. The CEO's notes ask for job reassurance, and the AI includes it. Try: Add: "Make no promises about jobs or roles. Only say what HR approved."
- No clear next step. The AI ends with a vague "we're excited." Try: Add: "Mention 1:1s by Dec 5. End with exactly: Questions go to #ask-leadership."
- Written, not spoken. The AI writes a memo with headings and long sentences. Try: Say: "A spoken talk track, plain text, sentences under 15 words, under 130 words total."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says it's spoken
- Opens with the change
- Bans unapproved promises
