Write a project post that matches your past post's style
Practice: Showing an example of what you want. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're a freelance web designer posting about a finished bakery website on LinkedIn. Match your past post: a first line with the result and a number, 2 short lines on what you did, then a last line of exactly 2 hashtags, with no emojis or other hashtags. Keep it under 60 words, and don't name the client (she asked you not to). Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Describing the style instead of showing it. "Write a LinkedIn post" gets the AI's default: a long story, emojis, and a pile of hashtags. Try: Paste your past post and say: "Match this exactly: result line, 2 short lines, 2 hashtags."
- Naming the client. The bakery's name is right there in your notes, and the AI will use it unless told not to. Try: Add: "Don't name the bakery or owner. Call it 'a family bakery in Ohio.'"
- Using the client's number. The AI may pick Carla's exciting 40% over the 35% you actually checked. Try: Add: "Use 35% for order growth, not 40%."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 60 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead, like "each line under 15 words," so the total lands near 45.
What a strong prompt includes
- Points to the example
- Limits the hashtags
- Keeps the client anonymous
- Uses the checked number
- Sets a size limit
