About this exercise

Write a talk track for a manager's 30-day check-in, plain text, with exactly these labeled parts: Open:, Ask:, Share:, Next steps:. Under 140 words. Ask: has exactly 4 lines starting with "- ", each a question under 14 words about what is going well, what is unclear, support needed, and the 60-day goals. Share: is one sentence using only the facts in the notes. Do not ask about personal life, family or health, and do not mention any rating.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using Beth's worries. The AI includes 'talks too fast'. Try: Say: "Use only the facts for the manager to share."
  • Personal questions. The AI asks about the commute. Try: Say: "No questions about personal life, family or health."
  • Wrong question count. The AI asks seven questions. Try: Say: "Ask: exactly 4 lines, each a question under 14 words."
  • Labels. The AI uses its own headings. Try: Say: "Parts labeled Open:, Ask:, Share:, Next steps:."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
