Work out when each new hire's benefits start
Practice: Catching mistakes and made-up facts. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're telling payroll when each new hire's benefits start. Write exactly 4 numbered lines in the form 'Name - start date - benefits start', plain text, under 60 words, applying the eligibility rule exactly. Use the corrected start date, and treat part-time hires according to the rule.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking 'when do benefits start'. The AI explains the rule at length instead of applying it to each person. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines 'Name - start date - benefits start'. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line instead: "each line under 12 words."
- Missing the same-day rule. AI applies 'first of next month' to everyone, including a Mar 1 start. Try: Add: "If they start on the 1st, benefits start that day."
- Using the old start date. Daniela's original date appears first. Try: Add: "Daniela starts Apr 1 (corrected). Part-time isn't eligible."
