About this exercise

Build a chronology from the notes as a table with the header Date | Event | Source. Include only events that have a date. Sort by date, earliest first. Event is one neutral sentence under 15 words with no judgments, labels or conclusions. Source is exactly one of: Reporter, Manager, Email. After the table add one line: Undated items: followed by the number of items in the notes that have no date. Plain text. HR reviews; this is not a finding.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Including undated items. The AI adds 'A while ago' or 'after the summer'. Try: Say: "Include only events that have a date."
  • Loaded wording. The AI writes 'unfairly assigned'. Try: Say: "Neutral sentences with no judgments or conclusions."
  • Impressions. The AI mentions Dale seeming defensive. Try: Say: "Leave out the HR partner's impressions."
  • Missing final line. The AI forgets the undated count. Try: Say: "Finish with Undated items: N."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
