Clean up a job posting into a fixed template

  • For HR and recruiting
  • You practice Asking for a format you can use
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Intermediate

About this exercise

Rewrite the posting into this exact template, plain text, with these labels on their own lines in order: Title:, Team:, Summary:, You will:, You have:, Pay range:. Under 100 words. "You will:" and "You have:" each have at most 3 short lines starting with "- ". Use the title Warehouse Associate. Remove age, gender and culture-fit wording. The hiring manager, Imani, confirmed these corrections: no degree is needed, the 5 years was a mistake, forklift certification is optional because the company trains, and weekends are only sometimes. Do not add duties. HR reviews before posting.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Biased wording stays. The AI keeps 'young, high-energy' language. Try: Say: "Remove age, gender and culture-fit wording."
  • Old requirements. The AI keeps the degree and 5 years. Try: Say: "Apply the manager's note: no degree, forklift optional."
  • Own structure. The AI adds sections like Benefits. Try: Say: "Use only these six labels in this order."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
