Apply written remote-work criteria to a request without deciding
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Apply the four written criteria to the request and return a table with the header Criterion | Met? | Evidence. Met? is exactly one of Yes, No, Not stated. Evidence quotes or closely paraphrases the request in under 15 words, or says "None". After the table add one line: Decision owner: followed by who decides according to the policy. Do not recommend approving or denying. Plain text, no bold.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Counting the tenure wrong. The AI says he has 12 months. Try: Say: "Count tenure up to the Jan 11 start date."
- Recommending. The AI says 'approve'. Try: Say: "Do not recommend approving or denying."
- Using family reasons. The AI treats the school commute as a criterion. Try: Say: "Apply only the four written criteria."
- Format. The AI changes the header or adds a decision line. Try: Say: "Header exactly as given, four rows, then Decision owner:."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
