Lay out the review cycle dates in a table

  • For HR and recruiting
  • You practice Asking for a format you can use
  • Time about 5 minutes
  • Level Intermediate

About this exercise

Using the policy, build the review cycle table for 2026 with the header Step | Owner | Due date. Use these steps in order: Self-review, Manager review, Calibration, Share results. Dates come from the policy rules counted from the cycle start date. Use dates in the form Mon Day (for example Nov 16). Plain text, no bold. After the table add one line: Check with HR: followed by anything in the policy that is unclear. Do not add steps.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Old 14 days. The AI uses the 2022 policy. Try: Say: "Use the 2025 policy: 10 days for self-review."
  • Date math errors. The AI miscounts business days. Try: Say: "Count from the cycle start; show only the date."
  • Missing check line. The AI ends without the unclear point. Try: Say: "Finish with a line starting Check with HR: for anything unclear."
  • Header. The AI adds steps or columns. Try: Say: "Header exactly Step | Owner | Due date, four rows."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
