Recap a buyer's must-haves after a consult
Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
After a buyer consultation, you're sending a recap so you both agree on the search. Write exactly 3 lines labeled "Budget:", "Must-have:" and "Nice-to-have:", under 50 words, plain text. Use what the buyers decided by the end of the meeting (they changed their minds on two things), and list only what they said, not what you think they'll need. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 50 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part instead: "each line under 14 words."
- No fixed shape. The AI writes a friendly recap email with headings and next steps. Try: Show the shape: "Exactly 3 lines: Budget:, Must-have:, Nice-to-have:."
- Using the early answers. The notes list the garage and school zone as must-haves before the buyers changed their minds. Try: Add: "Use what they decided by the end: garage is nice-to-have, yard is a must, drop Brookfield."
- Adding your own ideas. The AI adds a home office because they work from home. Try: Add: "Only what they said they want."
What a strong prompt includes
- Shows the 3 labels
- Uses their final decisions
- Uses the target budget
- Rules out guesses
- Sets a word limit
