Turn meeting notes into one Slack ask per owner
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write one Slack message for each person who owns an action after the meeting. Use a numbered list in the order the people appear in the notes, formatted like: 1. Name: ask, due date, done means X. Each line is under 28 words. Plain text. Use the latest information, and do not message anyone who no longer owns an action.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Messaging the old owner. The AI writes to Wen because Wen is in the notes. Try: Say: "Use the latest owner; do not message Wen."
- Old due date. The AI uses Jun 3 for Tomas. Try: Say: "Use the updated date for each action."
- No definition of done. The AI gives only a deadline. Try: Say: "Each line says what done means."
- Wrong list shape. The AI uses bullets or adds greetings. Try: Say: "Format 1. Name: ask, due date, done means X."
- Markdown. The AI bolds names. Try: Say: "Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Shows the line format
- Says to use the latest info
- Excludes the old owner
- Sets a per-line cap
- Plain text
