About this exercise

Reply to a peer's meeting invite politely asking for what you need before you accept. Plain text, under 70 words. Line 1: Subject: Re: Pricing sync. Three sentences in the body: first thanks, second asks for an agenda by Tuesday, third asks what decision or input is expected from you. Last line exactly: I'll confirm once I see the agenda. No criticism of how meetings are run.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Complaining. The AI mentions past meetings with no agenda. Try: Say: "No criticism of how meetings are run."
  • Excuse. The AI says 'I'm too busy'. Try: Say: "Don't say you're busy."
  • Wrong ending. The AI ends with 'Best'. Try: Say: "End with the exact last line."
  • Missing ask. The AI asks for the agenda only. Try: Say: "Also ask what decision or input is expected from you."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap it: "each sentence under 18 words."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
