About this exercise

Fill a kickoff one-pager with exactly these labels, one per line, in plain text: Goal:, Success measure:, In scope:, Out of scope:, Key dates:, Owner:. Use the final decisions in the notes, not earlier suggestions. Goal is one sentence under 20 words. Write numbers and dates exactly as in the notes. Under 110 words in all.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using earlier suggestions. The AI takes a full redesign or 200 calls. Try: Say: "Use the final decisions in the notes."
  • Old launch date. The AI uses Jan 27. Try: Say: "Use the dates as finally agreed."
  • Adding parked items. The AI includes dark mode. Try: Say: "Leave out parked ideas."
  • Changing the template. The AI adds headings and bullets. Try: Say: "Exactly these six labels in order, one per line."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds labels. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Final decisions only
