About this exercise

Write the company-wide email announcing the new in-office days. Plain text, under 180 words. Line 1 is exactly: Subject: Office days change from February 3. The last line is the questions address and nothing follows it. Order: what changes and when, who is exempt, why in one sentence, what is not decided yet with a date, and where to ask questions. Use only the confirmed facts and never promise that the policy will not change.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using four days. The AI picks the older draft detail. Try: Say: "Three days: Tue, Wed, Thu."
  • Skipping exemptions. The AI forgets who is exempt. Try: Say: "Include who is exempt."
  • Promising permanence. The AI repeats the draft line that the policy will never change. Try: Say: "Never promise the policy won't change."
  • Hiding what's open. The AI lists only the good news. Try: Say: "State what is not decided and by when."
  • Markdown. The AI bolds key dates. Try: Say: "Plain text."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part: "each part under 35 words."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 12 words."
