Turn moving tasks into dated deadlines
- For Parents and households
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your family's move date just changed and you need new deadlines for what's left. Get one numbered line per task not yet done, in the order listed, each showing the date math like "1. Cancel internet: Dec 20 - 14 days = Dec 6". Use the new move date and skip anything already done. Plain text, under 90 words. Write a prompt that gets you exactly that.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old move date. The AI reads December 13 at the top and misses the update at the bottom. Try: Add: "Use the new move date, December 20."
- Including finished tasks. The AI lists all seven tasks, including the ones marked DONE. Try: Add: "Skip tasks marked DONE."
- No date math. The AI gives dates with no working, so a wrong one is hard to catch. Try: Show it: "Format each line like: 1. Cancel internet: Dec 20 - 14 days = Dec 6".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 90 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words, nothing else."
- Leaving the format to the AI. The AI adds a title, bold labels and sub-bullets, which turns a quick note into a page. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold, no headings, no intro."
