About this exercise
Inviting customers to the Mosaic beta. Write a prompt for an email with a line starting "Subject:" of 7 words or fewer, a greeting using {{first_name}} exactly, then three labeled lines "What works:", "What's rough:" and "What we need from you:", a sign-off "The Mosaic team", and under 100 words, plain text. Don't promise a launch date, pricing or features that aren't in the beta.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Overpromising. The AI calls it polished and hints at launch plans. Try: Say: "Be honest about what's rough; no launch date, pricing or unbuilt features."
- Vague asks. The AI writes 'let us know what you think'. Try: Say: "Ask for a week of real use and the feedback form by Dec 18."
- Missing labels. The AI writes flowing paragraphs. Try: List the three labels.
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the merge tag
- Gives the three labels
- Names the asks
- Bans promises
- Gives sign-off and length
