- For Marketing and content
- You practice Giving the right context
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Your company is hosting a thank-you dinner for customers. Write a prompt for an invitation email: a "Subject:" line of 8 words or fewer, a two-sentence welcome, then exactly three lines starting "When:", "Where:" and "RSVP by:", one sentence asking about dietary needs, and the sign-off "Camille Rowe". Use the final details, not the earlier ones. Plain text, under 105 words, no sales pitch.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old venue or date. The change log mentions Hotel Rowan and Dec 2. Try: Say: "Use the final details only."
- Selling at a thank-you event. The AI adds a product mention. Try: Say: "No sales pitch; it's a thank-you."
- Missing the three labeled lines. The AI writes a paragraph with the details inside. Try: List When:, Where:, RSVP by: lines.
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the three labels
- Uses final details
- Asks about dietary needs
- Bans sales pitch
- Caps length and sign-off
