Pick customer quotes for an exec deck, permission first
Practice: Catching mistakes and made-up facts. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You need customer quotes for a slide in the quarterly business review. Write exactly 3 numbered lines in the form '"quote" - role, company', using only customers who gave permission to be quoted, plain text, under 75 words. Copy each quote word for word, and attribute it exactly as the customer approved.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Picking the best-sounding quotes. The AI chooses by impact, including ones without permission. Try: Add: "Only quotes with Permission: YES."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line instead: "each line under 22 words."
- Tidying the quotes. AI shortens or polishes quotes for slides. Try: Add: "Copy each quote word for word."
- Wrong attribution. The AI adds personal names because they're in the bank. Try: Add: "Role and company only, no names. Exactly 3 numbered lines, plain text."
