Choose between a summer course and a job with your savings rule
- For College students
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your rule: pick the summer option that leaves you at least $1,500 saved by Aug 31. Write exactly 3 numbered lines: one per option showing the savings math (earnings minus costs), then 3. Pick: the option and one reason under 12 words. The course fee went up after you first looked, so use the new fee. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old fee. The notes say $1,200, and the AI misses the registrar's update. Try: Add: "The course fee is $1,650 now."
- Hiding the math. The AI says one option 'saves more' without showing it. Try: Add: "Show each option's math, like $15 x 25 x 10 = $3,750."
- Ignoring your rule. The AI weighs graduating early and picks the course. Try: Add: "My rule: at least $1,500 saved by Aug 31."
- A long essay. The AI writes pros and cons with headings. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 numbered lines. Plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 15 words."
