Turn a job posting into a 30-60-90 day plan slide
- For Job seekers
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your final interview asks for one slide with your 30-60-90 day plan. Write exactly 3 numbered lines labeled First 30 days, Days 31-60, Days 61-90, each with 2 goals taken from the job posting, then an unnumbered last line starting "Ask:" with one question for the panel. The recruiter said the team changed tools, so use the current one. Plain text, under 110 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Generic first-90-days goals. The AI writes 'build relationships' and 'learn the culture' instead of the actual duties. Try: Add: "Take each goal from a duty in the posting."
- The old tool. The posting says Asana and the AI repeats it. Try: Add: "The team switched to Linear, per the recruiter."
- No closing question. The AI ends the slide without inviting the panel in. Try: Add: "End with one line starting 'Ask:' with a question for the panel."
- Letting the AI pick the shape. The AI writes a full slide deck with bold headers and many bullets. Try: Show it: "1. First 30 days: goal; goal". Plain text.
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each part: "each goal under 8 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the three periods
- Grounds goals in the posting
- Uses the new tool
- Adds a panel question
- Caps the length
