Write takeaway headlines for a 4-slide proposal

  • For Managers and team leads
  • You practice Asking for a format you can use
  • Time about 5 minutes

About this exercise

You're proposing a new on-call rotation to your director in 4 slides. Write exactly 4 numbered slide titles, each a full-sentence takeaway under 12 words that ends with a period, and under each title exactly 2 bullets starting with "- " that each include a number from the data. The survey numbers in the draft were replaced by final results, so use the final ones. Plain text, under 160 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Topic labels as titles. The AI writes titles like 'Problem' and 'Proposal' that say nothing on their own. Try: Add: "Each title is a full-sentence takeaway ending with a period."
  • Bullets without evidence. The AI writes opinions as bullets instead of the numbers that back them up. Try: Add: "Exactly 2 bullets per slide, each with a number from the data."
  • Using the draft survey. The draft's 60% sits above the final results, and the AI uses it. Try: Add: "Use the final survey: 78%."
  • A markdown deck. The AI uses bold titles and headings. Try: Add: "Plain text, numbered titles, bullets starting with '- '."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each part: "titles under 12 words, bullets under 10."

What a strong prompt includes
