Build a one-slide exec summary with the ask first
- For Product managers
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
Your VP gives you one slide in Monday's review. Write it as exactly 4 numbered lines with these labels in this order: Decision needed, Result, Cost, Risk. Each line is under 20 words, plain text, under 85 words in total. The VP only trusts the cleaned numbers, so use the lift figure after bot traffic was removed.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Burying the ask. The AI opens with background and puts the request at the end, if at all. Try: Add: "Line 1 is 'Decision needed:' with the exact approval and date."
- Using the exciting number. The 18% figure appears first and the AI repeats it. Try: Add: "Use the 11% lift after bot traffic was removed. Don't use 18%."
- A slide full of text. The AI writes a title, subtitle, and 8 bullets with bold labels. Try: Say: "Exactly 4 numbered lines, each under 20 words, plain text."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 15 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the labels
- Uses the cleaned number
- Says who reads it
- Sets the line count
- Caps the length
