Write roadmap speaker notes that sales can safely repeat
- For Product managers
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You're presenting the roadmap to the sales team, who will repeat what you say to customers. Write speaker notes as exactly 4 numbered lines, one per slide, each 'Slide title: what to say' in under 25 words, using only the current dates. Then add one unnumbered last line starting 'Don't promise:' naming the item that isn't confirmed. Plain text, under 130 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the slipped date. The deck still says bulk import is Q1, and the AI repeats it. Try: Add: "Bulk import moved to Q2 per the engineering update."
- Promising the integration. Sales wants a date, and the AI gives a hopeful one. Try: Add: "No date for Salesforce. Add a 'Don't promise:' line naming it."
- Speaker notes as paragraphs. The AI writes long scripts with headings for each slide. Try: Say: "Exactly 4 numbered lines, 'Slide title: what to say', under 25 words each."
- Markdown notes. The AI bolds slide names. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting words, so a total word cap usually lands over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 25 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says who's listening
- Uses the new date
- Adds a don't-promise line
- Sets the line count
- Caps the length
