About this exercise
Write a three-message outreach sequence to one potential candidate in plain text. Label the messages exactly Day 1:, Day 5:, Day 12:. Each message is at most 2 sentences and under 40 words. Day 1 introduces the role, Day 5 shares one new fact from the notes, Day 12 is a polite final note that says you will not follow up again. No urgency words like urgent, last chance or limited, and no flattery. Start each with "Hi Priya,".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Pressure. The AI writes 'last chance' or 'exciting opportunity'. Try: Say: "No urgency words and no flattery."
- Mentioning layoffs or turnover. The AI uses her employer's news. Try: Say: "Use only the facts in the notes that may be shared."
- Length. The AI writes three paragraphs. Try: Say: "Each message at most 2 sentences, under 40 words."
- Labels. The AI uses Subject lines and its own labels. Try: Say: "Label exactly Day 1:, Day 5:, Day 12: and start each with Hi Priya,."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
