Explain the local market report to first-time buyers
Practice: Saying who it's for. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're writing a short note for your first-time buyer email list, and you're hosting a homebuyer workshop on Dec 6. You want at most 3 sentences in plain text with the county's final October median price and days on market, one thing that's good news for buyers from the report, and the Dec 6 workshop. Use only the county report's final numbers, not national headlines, and skip jargon like "absorption rate".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using preliminary numbers. The preliminary line comes first, and the AI may quote it. Try: Say: "Use the final Nov 5 figures."
- Repeating the national story. The national headline is dramatic and may not match your county. Try: Add: "Only the county report, not national news."
- Writing for agents. The AI uses industry terms first-time buyers don't know, and doesn't know about your workshop. Try: Say: "For first-time buyers, no jargon, mention the Dec 6 workshop."
- Not capping the length. The AI writes several paragraphs by default, far more than the reader will take in. Try: Say: "at most 3 sentences."
- Getting markdown back. AI defaults to bold labels and headings, which show up as stray symbols in your email newsletter. Try: Ask for "plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Uses the final numbers
- Ignores national news
- Says who it's for
- Mentions the workshop
- Caps the number of sentences
