About this exercise
Work out who must approve each of the five requests. Compute each discount from list price (not from any earlier quote). Write a markdown table with columns Deal, Discount math, Approver(s), one row per deal, sorted by list price from largest to smallest. After the table add one last line exactly like "Needs Finance: Deal A, Deal B" (names alphabetical). Nothing else. Write the math exactly like "(50,000 - 42,500) / 50,000 = 15%", with no $ signs. Under 130 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the earlier quote. The AI measures Cinder against last quarter's $100,000. Try: Add: "Compute every discount from list price, not any earlier quote."
- Missing the small-deal exception. The AI sends Acme to a Director because 25% is over 20%. Try: Add: "Apply the under-$10,000 exception."
- Forgetting payment terms. The AI skips the Finance rule for Net 60. Try: Add: "Add Finance for any payment terms other than Net 30."
- Extra commentary. The AI adds notes and a restated matrix. Try: Add: "Table only, under 130 words."
What a strong prompt includes
