About this exercise
Convert the five deals to US dollars using the fixed budget rates, not the spot rates. Write a markdown table with columns Deal, Local amount, Rate, USD, then a Total row. Write the Local amount as the code and a plain number (for example EUR 80000) and the USD column as a whole number with no commas or symbols (for example 88000). Add one last line "Rates used: budget, set Jan 1." Under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using spot rates. The AI uses the most recent rates (1.07, 1.24). Try: Add: "Use the budget rates (EUR 1.10, GBP 1.27), not spot."
- Converting USD deals. The AI applies a rate to the USD deal. Try: Add: "The USD deal uses rate 1.00."
- Missing the closing line. The AI adds a paragraph on FX risk. Try: Add: "Last line exactly: Rates used: budget, set Jan 1."
- Wrong total. The AI mis-sums converted amounts. Try: Add: "Show each USD value, then sum them for the Total row."
- Extra text. The AI adds notes about FX risk. Try: Add: "Table plus the last line only, under 90 words."
What a strong prompt includes

- Uses budget rates
- Shows the total
