Make a customer's goals measurable, or say what's missing
- For Customer success managers
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Turn the customer's three goals into a table with columns Goal, Baseline, Target, Date. Use only the kickoff notes. If a baseline is not in the notes write "Unknown - measure first"; if a target or date was not agreed write "Not agreed". Dates must be ISO (YYYY-MM-DD). Output only the table, under 100 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Inventing targets. The AI proposes '90 of 120 users' or 'NPS 50'. Try: Add: "If a target or date was not agreed write Not agreed."
- Inventing a baseline. The AI guesses a satisfaction score. Try: Add: "If a baseline is not in the notes write Unknown - measure first."
- Date format. The AI writes 'end of March' or March 31. Try: Add: "Dates are ISO YYYY-MM-DD, assuming 2027 for the stated months."
- Wrong columns or extras. The AI adds a recommendations section. Try: Add: "Columns Goal, Baseline, Target, Date; table only, under 100 words."
