Check in before a free trial ends, honestly and briefly
- For Small business owners
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write an email to a trial user whose 14-day trial ends in 3 days. Plain text under 90 words, subject line first. Use two usage facts from the notes (exact numbers), offer the 7-day extension only because the notes say it's available on request, and give the plan price. Do not say the trial will "expire soon" in a pressuring way and don't claim anything about what other users do.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Quoting the internal benchmark. The AI says 'users with 5 orders convert at 3x'. Try: Add: "Don't claim anything about other users."
- Pressure wording. The AI says 'your trial is about to expire!' Try: Add: "Calm tone; no pressure about expiry."
- Vague usage. The AI says 'you've been using the app'. Try: Add: "Cite two exact usage numbers."
- Long email. The AI writes a long email with bold. Try: Add: "Plain text under 90 words, subject first."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for exact numbers
- Mentions the price
- Offers the extension
- Bans pressure and claims
- Sets form and length
