Check an AI answer about permit rules against the DMV pages
- For High school students
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
You asked an AI search tool about getting your learner's permit in Delmont, and you have the state DMV pages it used. Write exactly 4 numbered lines, one per claim, each starting with the topic (Age:, Hours:, Test:, Fee:) followed by the word Current or Outdated; every Outdated line gives the new rule and says it comes from the page dated July 2026. Plain text, under 100 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not mentioning dates. The AI treats both DMV pages as true and confirms the old 40 hours. Try: Add: "When pages disagree, the newest one wins."
- Fuzzy labels. The AI writes "mostly correct" or "partly accurate". Try: Add: "Each line says Current or Outdated."
- No source date. You can't show your parents where the new rule came from. Try: Add: "Say the page date on every Outdated line."
- Long or formatted output. AI adds an intro, bold labels and tips you didn't ask for. Try: Add: "Only the numbered lines, each under 20 words, plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says the newest page wins
- Gives exact labels
- Asks for the source date
