Pick the 3 most credible sources from 8 search results
- For High school students
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
About this exercise
For your civics debate on 4-day school weeks, your teacher only counts sources from 2022 or later, written by researchers or a government agency, with their own data. From the 8 results, write exactly 4 numbered lines: lines 1-3 each name one source that meets all three tests with a reason under 15 words, and line 4 starts with Avoid: and names the most misleading result and why. Plain text, under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not giving the teacher's tests. The AI ranks by its own sense of quality and may pick the 2014 study because it's 'foundational'. Try: Add: "Only 2022 or later, by researchers or government, with their own data."
- Skipping the warning. The AI lists good sources but doesn't flag the sponsored one that's being repeated in the news. Try: Add: "Line 4: Avoid: name the most misleading result and why."
- Not saying how many lines. The AI reviews all 8 results one by one. Try: Say: "exactly 4 numbered lines."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each line: "each reason under 15 words."
- Getting markdown back. AI bolds source names, which looks messy in your debate notes. Try: Ask for "plain text, no bold."
