Make a formula sheet of only what the SAT doesn't give you

Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

The SAT gives you a reference sheet, so you only want to memorize the formulas that aren't on it. Get exactly 5 numbered lines in the form 'Name: formula', plain text, nothing else. Use only formulas from your tutor's list that are marked NOT on the reference sheet, and use her corrected slope formula.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for a formula sheet. The AI lists every SAT formula, including the ones already printed on the test. Try: Say: "Only the ones NOT on the reference sheet."
  • Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered lines."
  • Ignoring your tutor's picks. The AI may choose its own 5 instead of the ones your tutor said you'll use most. Try: Add: "Use the 5 Ms. Adeyemi picked."
  • Missing the correction. Your backwards slope formula is still in the notes. Try: Add: "Use the corrected slope formula."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Fix the shape: "name and formula only, no examples."
  • Forgetting where it will be read. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols on a printed card. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Skips the reference sheet
  • Says how many formulas
  • Uses the tutor's picks
  • Uses the correction
  • Asks for plain text
