About this exercise
You teach 8th grade English and need a quick reading check on chapter 3 of the class novel. Get exactly 4 numbered questions, each answerable from chapter 3 with the page in parentheses, then all short answers under an 'Answers' line at the end, plain text. Nothing may hint at what happens in chapter 4, since students haven't read it yet.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not saying how many questions. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more questions than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered questions."
- Not asking for page numbers. Without pages, you can't quickly check a disputed answer or point a student back to the text. Try: Add: "Put the page in parentheses after each question."
- Not flagging spoilers. The AI sees your chapter 4 notes and may use them, ruining the next chapter. Try: Add: "Use only chapter 3. Nothing from chapter 4."
- No answer key. Without a key at the end, grading 30 papers takes longer. Try: Add: "Short answers at the end under 'Answers'."
