Email your coach about a missed practice, facts only
Practice: Giving the right context. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You're Maya, and you have to tell Coach Ramirez you'll miss this week's practice. He wants short emails, so write at most 4 sentences with no apologies at all (no 'sorry' or 'apologize'). Open with which practice you'll miss and why, say you'll make it up at Saturday conditioning without extra details (no ankle, no rides), and end by asking whether you can still start Tuesday's game. Write a prompt that gets you that email.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not saying how short. The AI writes a full, polite letter with a warm-up paragraph and a long closing. Try: Be exact: "At most 4 sentences."
- Using the old practice day. The chat mentions Thursday first. Without a nudge, the AI may name the wrong day. Try: Say it: "The practice is Wednesday (it moved from Thursday)."
- Burying the question. The AI tucks your question in the middle and ends with "Thank you for understanding!" Try: Add: "End with my question about starting Tuesday's game."
- Over-apologizing. AI cushions bad news with "I'm so sorry" and "I apologize for any inconvenience", which Coach hates. Try: Add: "No apologies at all. Don't mention my ankle or my mom driving."
What a strong prompt includes
- Limits the sentences
- Names the right day
- Bans apologies
- Says how to end
- Says who it's for
