Explain the new visitor check-in steps for the front desk
Practice: Asking for a format you can use. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your front desk temps start Monday and need the new visitor check-in process explained simply. Write exactly 5 numbered steps in the order they happen, each starting with who does it ('Visitor:', 'You:' or 'Host:') and under 15 words, plain text, using the updated rules from facilities. Nothing before or after the steps. Write a prompt that gets that list.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not setting the count. The AI adds steps for deliveries, contractors and parking, so temps can't tell what matters. Try: Set it: "Exactly 5 numbered steps, in order."
- Copying the draft rule. The memo shows the old 'over 1 hour' rule next to the correction. The AI may keep it. Try: Say it: "Check photo ID for every visitor."
- Not saying who does what. The AI writes steps in the passive voice, so temps can't tell who does each one. Try: Add: "Start each step with who does it: Visitor:, You: or Host:."
- Adding extras and chatter. AI adds "Welcome to the team!" and tips about chargers and parking. Try: Add: "Only the 5 steps. No intro, no extras. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the number of steps
- Uses the corrected ID rule
- Limits each step
- Cuts the extras
- Asks for plain text
