Fact-check a PTA newsletter blurb against the flyer
Practice: Catching mistakes and made-up facts. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
You wrote a PTA newsletter blurb about the book fair and want it checked against the official flyer. Ask for exactly 4 numbered lines labeled Date, Time, Cost and Location, each saying 'Correct' or 'Wrong' and, if wrong, the right detail from the flyer. Plain text, nothing else. Write a prompt that gets that check.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking "does this look right?". The AI says it looks great and offers a rewrite, without checking each fact. Try: Show it: "Exactly 4 numbered lines: 1. Date: Correct or Wrong ..."
- Skimming instead of checking. The AI may miss the moved location or the earlier closing time because the blurb sounds fine. Try: Add: "Check each one against the official flyer and give the right detail if wrong."
- Getting a rewrite. AI adds a fixed blurb and tips you didn't ask for. Try: Add: "Nothing else. No rewritten blurb. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
