Get ranked feedback on an in-app announcement before it ships
Practice: Catching mistakes and made-up facts. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Before your in-app announcement ships, you want a quick review. Ask for exactly 3 numbered issues ranked by how much they'd hurt users, each under 20 words, plain text. Issue 1 must be any statement that contradicts the launch notes. No rewritten announcement, no praise, no intro. Write a prompt that gets that review.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for general feedback. The AI gives a long, unranked list and a polished rewrite. Try: Set it: "Exactly 3 numbered issues, ranked by user impact."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 80 words" and it often lands well over. Try: Cap each part: "Each issue under 20 words."
- Not checking against the facts. The AI reviews tone and style but doesn't compare claims to the launch notes. Try: Add: "Issue 1 must be any claim that contradicts the launch notes."
- Getting a rewrite. AI loves to hand back "a revised version" you didn't ask for, plus "Great draft!" Try: Add: "Output only the 3 issues. No rewrite, no praise. Plain text."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the number of issues
- Checks against the notes
- Asks for a ranking
- Bans a rewrite
- Asks for plain text
