Label six move-in payments as Deposit, Prepaid or Expense
- For Accountants
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
You're coding the payments made when the company moved into a new office. Write a prompt for a markdown table with columns Item, Amount and Label, one row per payment in the order listed. Label must be exactly Deposit (refundable amounts), Prepaid (covers months after October) or Expense (everything else). Add a last line, outside the table, in the form "Total prepaid: $x + $y + $z = $total". Under 130 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Calling November rent an expense. The AI sees rent and books it to October. Try: Say: "Anything that covers months after October is Prepaid."
- Inventing label names. The AI writes Prepaid asset or Security deposit asset instead of your labels. Try: Say: "Label must be exactly Deposit, Prepaid or Expense."
- Skipping the total line. The AI ends the table without the sum or hides the math. Try: Ask for the last line in the form "Total prepaid: $x + $y + $z = $total".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs past word limits. Try: Ask for fewer words than the real cap and keep each part short.
What a strong prompt includes
- Lists the three labels
- Defines when to use each
- Asks for the table columns
- Asks for the total line
- Caps length
