Plan three adoption nudges as a compact table
- For Customer success managers
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Plan three adoption nudges for new users as a table with the header row exactly "When | Channel | Message" and three rows for Day 7, Day 14 and Day 30. Each Message is under 20 words and uses {{first_name}} and no other merge field. Use the channel that fits the data. Plain text, under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old merge field. The template uses {{name}} and the AI copies it. Try: Say: "Use only {{first_name}}."
- Nudging the wrong action. The AI writes a generic 'come back' message. Try: Say: "Day 7 first project, Day 14 invite teammate, Day 30 first report."
- Wrong table. The AI adds columns or notes. Try: Give the exact header row.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
- Gives the header
- Ties each day to an action
