Flag an at-risk onboarding to the internal team in Slack
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a Slack post for the #cs-leads channel with exactly two lines starting "Risk:" and "Ask:". Plain text, under 60 words, no emojis. Name the customer, give one number, and make the ask a specific person and day. Do not blame the customer's staff.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Blaming Tomas. Dalia's side comment blames him and the AI repeats it. Try: Add: "Do not blame the customer's staff."
- Vague ask. The AI says 'we need more trainers'. Try: Say: "Ask: Priya Chen, second trainer for Nov 19, by Monday Nov 9."
- Wrong format. The AI writes a long post with emojis. Try: Say: "Exactly two lines: Risk: and Ask:, no emojis."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
- Names the two labels
- Bans blame
