Write an executive paragraph from verified numbers only
- For Executives
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Write the QBR executive paragraph in exactly 2 lines. Line 1 starts "Summary:" and is one paragraph of at most 3 sentences using only customer-verified numbers. Line 2 starts "Excluded:" and lists, in a few words each, the unverified or estimated items you left out. Plain text, under 90 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including the projection. The $120,000 estimate sounds persuasive. Try: Say: "Use only customer-verified numbers."
- Missing the Excluded line. The AI drops the unverified items silently. Try: Say: "Line 2: Excluded: list what you left out."
- Leaking internal notes. The AI mentions renewal risk or the upsell. Try: Add: "Nothing internal."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
