Send a phone-call recap with three labeled lines
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a recap email to Mr. Elias after the call. Start with "Hi Mr. Elias,", then exactly three lines starting "You agreed to:", "We will:" and "Next contact:", then end with "Thanks, Wren". Include only what was agreed. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Mentioning the maybe-refund. The AI includes the agent's unapproved comment. Try: Say: "Only what was agreed; no refund talk."
- Skipping the exact format. The AI writes a normal email. Try: Give the greeting, three labels and sign-off.
- Missing the dates. The AI says 'soon' instead of Nov 8 and Nov 12. Try: Say: "Use the dates from the notes."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the three labels
- Gives the greeting and sign-off
- Limits to what was agreed
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
