Log a feature request with five fields and no promise
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Fill five lines starting "Request:", "Plan:", "Why:", "Workaround given:" and "Promise made:". The last line must say exactly "Promise made: None". Use only what is in the ticket and note. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Logging a promise. The AI writes 'planned for Q2' or similar. Try: Say: "The last line is exactly Promise made: None."
- Inventing a plan name. The AI guesses the plan. Try: Say: "Use only what is in the ticket and note."
- Wrong layout. The AI writes a summary paragraph. Try: Name the five labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the five labels
- Quotes the last line
- Limits to the ticket
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
