Write a three-question laptop FAQ for new hires
- For IT teams
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write an FAQ for new hires with exactly 3 questions: Where do I get my laptop? How do I first log in? What is in the box? Format each as "Q:" then "A:" on the next line, each answer under 25 words. Use only the current IT guide. Plain text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old guide. The outdated guide is in the material. Try: Say: "Use only the current Nov 1 guide."
- Missing details. The AI writes 'pick it up from IT'. Try: Say: "Include the place, time and what to bring."
- Wrong layout. The AI writes headings. Try: Show Q: then A: on the next line, three pairs.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
- Shows Q and A layout
- Uses the current guide
