Fill a help article skeleton with five labeled lines
- For IT teams
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Fill the help article skeleton with exactly five lines starting "Before you start:", "Steps:", "If it doesn't work:", "Related:" and "Applies to:". Steps is one line with the steps separated by semicolons. Use only the notes. Plain text, under 130 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old article. The outdated version says contact support only. Try: Say: "Use only the current notes."
- Steps on separate lines. The AI writes a numbered list instead of one line. Try: Say: "Steps: one line, steps separated by semicolons."
- Wrong labels. The AI writes headings and paragraphs. Try: Name the five labels exactly.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
