Write an address-change macro with two branches
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write one macro with exactly two lines starting "Not shipped:" and "Shipped:". Use the merge fields {{first_name}} and {{order_number}} once each in total across the two lines and no others. Use the current policy only. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the old reroute fee. The old policy offers $8 rerouting and the AI includes it. Try: Say: "Current policy only. No rerouting fee."
- Missing the 24-hour condition. The AI says 'we'll update it' without the reply condition. Try: Say: "Reply with the full address within 24 hours."
- Wrong structure. The AI writes headings and bullet points. Try: Name the two line starts.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
