Turn a macro style guide into a five-item pre-send checklist
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a pre-send checklist of exactly 5 lines, each starting with "[ ] " (open bracket, space, close bracket, space) followed by a check an agent can answer yes or no, starting with an imperative verb such as Fill or Check. Cover the 24-hour rule from the guide. Plain text, no other lines, under 80 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using markdown checkboxes. The AI writes '- [ ]' lists with bullets and bold. Try: Say: "Each line starts with [ ] and a space, plain text."
- Reviving the smiley. The AI includes the dropped v1 rule. Try: Say: "Only current v3 rules."
- Skipping the Friday trap. The AI writes a generic 'check dates' line. Try: Say: "One item covers the 24-hour Friday rule."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes

- Asks for yes/no checks starting with verbs
